Floor Factors sells both prefabricated, predetermined sized area rugs from multiple vendors, as well as creating completely custom area rugs.
Custom area rugs offer a personal approach that makes every facet of the end result completely tailored to your liking. From the color and pattern, to the size and type of fabrication details, working directly and personally with multiple local fabricators opens up many options typically unavailable when ordering from an area rug company. By having such a close and positive relationship with Portland based fabricators, our lead times are minimal and available custom options are nearly endless. Whether you’re installing an area rug 6″ from the walls in a bedroom and need cut-outs for heat vents, or you’re doing a custom stair runner with pie-shaped stairs, the list goes on of circumstances that would normally require a designer and/or a contractor and potentially cost thousands, that we are capable of doing in conjunction with our local fabricators for a very affordable rate. Protocol for selecting a custom area rug would start with selecting a carpet from one of our thousands of carpet samples in our showroom. We offer products in Wool, Nylon, Polyester, Polypropylene, Sea grass, Sisal, Jute, Woven Vinyl, the list goes on, any “Broadloom” product sold in our showroom can be made into a completely custom area rug. Next, you would select the type of fabrication preferred around the perimeter of the area rug (this might be dictated be the fiber). Again, the options are nearly endless; any type of leather, sunbrella, cotton, wool and custom carpet borders can be applied. If the finished area rug happens to be installed over hardwoods, or any delicate surface that might be vulnerable to scratching, an area rug pad would be highly recommended. We sell them separate from your rug in 2 thicknesses with a latex backing to prevent movement, again at a completely custom size based on the size of the finished rug. Depending on the installed conditions, either our thinner pad (1/8″) might be best for doorways, however if no restrictions are existing, our thicker rug pad(1/4″) is always recommended for added comfort underfoot. A secondary option would be having our fabricator apply either a felt or a latex backed pad, depending on on-site conditions, which would be a permanent fixture to the rug.
Prefabricated and pre-sized area rugs such as; Loloi, Kaleen and Oriental Weavers, to name a few are typically sold in a basic format, offering each individual style/pattern in multiple colors in generally 5-6 varying sizes. Each area rug line is extremely extensive, contributing many different looks and designs that cater to just about any interior/exterior design environment. One main advantage of locating a prefabricated rug is the price; generally speaking, prefab’d area rugs tend to cost approximately 10-40% less than custom area rugs. Obviously the downside is having to stay within the confines of a preselected sizing structure and not having control over the material/fiber used to create each rug. Kaleen and Loloi offer many different constructions, however most of them consist of Wool, which is a superior fiber to any synthetic. Wool is extremely resilient, fire retardant, hypoallergenic and naturally wants to repel moisture, which makes cleaning up liquids easy. If you happen to be looking for a rug with superior stain resistance, nylon or polyester might be the suitable fiber for you. Regardless of the look or feel you’re considering for an area rug, our selection of designs and patterns in multiple different fibers is unrivaled by any other carpet showroom in Portland.
“The carpet looks lovely and I am very satisfied with the service. I do especially want to express my appreciation to Jeff Dyrland for the excellent job he did in my home. He was superb in his skill and conscientiousness. It was amazing to watch him handle the huge, heavy carpet all by himself. It was truly an impressive experience. He also maintained a cheerful, friendly attitude throughout the long, arduous day! Thank you also for your efficient measuring of the carpet!”
“What a relief to have a friend of the firm to help with an issue about which I know nothing whatsoever. Thank you for taking the time to personally handle our order and setting us up with an installer in Bend. Your help is much appreciated!” Lara Stahancyk, Kent, Johnson & Hook P.C.
“I wanted to thank you and your guys for the job you did replacing my parents’ carpet. According to my dad, it went off like clockwork, my parents really like the carpet and my dad said your guys did a great job and he enjoyed working with them. Thanks a bunch for the great service. I owe you one. ”
“Thank you for the great service at every point of this relatively small project. We will recommend your services.”
“We would like to thank you for the personal attention and courtesy extended to us. You allowed us the latitude to make those time consuming decisions that are always needed in selecting carpets for a home. We are extremely pleased with the end results. We would be remiss if we did not mention the skills of the carpet installer, Jeff Dyrland. He is a conscientious craftsman who completed the job in an extremely skillful and professional manner. If he is representative of the employees you hire, you certainly are doing it right.”

“We finally have the bedroom and bathroom finished and here are some pictures of the finished product. Thanks for all your patience and help with our project. I’ve been referring lots of people to you!”
“Thank you so much. Dot was very pleased with the installation and your installer. She called and raved last night!”
“We are now settled or almost settled, into our new home here in Washington. We often get to Portland on weekend trips and that’s how we found your business and your helpful staff. We had heard about the Amtico products and you had that line of flooring with samples to view. We ended up with the slate look in the mudroom and hallway, a cherry wood floor in the TV room and a tile look in a guest bath. We’re very pleased with all of them. Thanks for all the help from your end.”

“Just a note to tell you I’m pleased beyond description with the work your guy did for me. He was fast, competent and left not a thing to show repair work had been done. I will recommend Floor Factors with delight.”
“I am still moving back into the studio and it’s much nicer on my body than moving out was. It looks beautiful and feels so good, especially compared to the concrete. Please also include the exact name of the product. I already have one person I want to refer it to. Thanks. It’s been a pleasure working with you guys.”
“I just wanted to let you know I was by to say hi a couple of days ago. You were not available so I talked to Rick Morehouse because I am getting a lot questions about the newest engineered hardwood flooring from my clients. Anyway, Rick was very knowledgeable and professional so I wanted to let you know how refreshing it is to have a resource like Rick instead of going to the big box stores like Home Depot and Lowes. I will not hesitate to send business to Floor Factors anytime.”
“Thank you so much for all your help, your enthusiasm and attention to all my questions. Please extend my thanks to your installers. They did and outstanding job! They were on time, professional and helpful – they exceeded my expectations. This was not the easiest job in the world due to the small space and the carpet pattern. The installers had to move all the heavy furniture. Your installer’s experience and expertise were so valuable in making everything come together. You are all outstanding representatives of your company.”

“I just wanted to thank you and your team at The Atwater for your work ethic and the time you put into my project. I am hopeful that I will see your team on my next project.”
Ken Kowalski, Hoffman Construction
“Early on in the process we had visited your showroom and were assisted by Alicia Davis. Alicia worked with us, diligently, utilizing her incredible expertise, until we found a carpet and a pad that was just what we needed and wanted. She was the reason we returned to Floor Factors! Your estimator came to our home and provided expert measurement, answered all my questions and provided suggestions – all with the same professionalism that Alicia had provided. Our experience with your company was stellar! The dedication to serving your customers with respect, care and in a timely manner allowed this experience, which had not had a great start, to become a most favorable one.”
Marie B. Kurtright
“I don’t know where to begin or find the words to express our gratitude. We can’t thank you enough. Especially Ray, he seemed to understand what we needed without much input. Everyone worked so hard with a smile on every face. I certainly learned a lesson. Our little house is a happier place to be.”
The Naida Ramey family
“We recently bought a town home in Portland and needed a dining room rug. I emailed several Portland companies with what we had in mind. By far, the most complete and helpful response came from your salesman, Rick Morehouse. When we were in Portland we visited your store and met with him. He was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. We got just what we wanted and benefited greatly from his suggestions and recommendations. I wanted you to know what a fine representative he is for your company. We’ll be back when we have further needs.”
